On Retiree’s Square Corner MN column??

Dear Editor,

I have not written any article lately for your publication although I have been thinking of doing so for sometime now.  Maybe I was too busy to get down to it.  Maybe I do not have enough time on my hand.  But I am not going to employment anymore.  I am retired.  I have all the time in the world so they say..  So what is keeping me.  I think it is simply a case of A.A.A.D.D which spells out to Age Activated Attention Deficiency Disorder.

The best case in point is this  attachment email I received whose author is unknown but it could have been written by me or anybody who is in the same ilk as mine.  I would like to establish  with your kind permission and benevolent blessing, a regular column for retiree's personal activities and individual methods of keeping mentally and physically fit to while away their enormous free time although sometimes laced with A A A D D, starting with this article.

Why the title Retiree's Square Corner ?  When someone says he is in a corner, he is more or less hemmed in one place that is on that juncture between two lines or two walls while in a square corner, there are more than one corner, actually four  just like in a square area or room although one might end up again at the same corner he started with .

The Retiree's Square Corner will welcome comments, suggestions and experiences from people in their golden years, from any people connected and concerned with their loved ones who are goldenagers , and from people who are knowledgeable due to their work  and profession about the golden years.  In the future issues, I will try to write about the joy of doing and solving CROSSWORDS, the exhilaration of LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE, the satisfaction of watching of  and or participating  in SPORT EVENTS, the fulfilling art of FLOWER AND VEGGIE GARDENING  and last but not the least or the best, the happiness and frustration of joining SOCIAL, CIVIC or RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS.

Dear Ka Ven & Ed Flores,

I welcome the establishment of a "Retiree's Column" in the Munting Nayon News Magazine. This will invigorate again the minds of those in the later years of their life, but still willing to "come out of age". This will also relive the sydicated writers of "Hometown Story Tellers" of our group of graduates of Hagonoy Elementary School and Hagonoy Insititute in Hagonoy, Bulacan. By the way, have you heard of any late news from our Book Project?

Count me in as one of the regular contributors from Australia. Retarded as I am, I may be able to contribute on some of the topics you have mentioned, especially on involvement with the Church and Filipino communities, Sports, and my undying fashion for growing orchids and minor past time of home cooking. I will also invite our good old prolific Bilto Francisco from the Philippines who is a prolific writer as we know him.

On the lighter side and with no offense intended on others, should it not be called "Raterded's Column" or "Senior Sixty Cents?. You know, when you have retired, your mind gets retarded. I always refer to myself as a "Retarded and a member of the Senior Sixty Cents, now being a member of the Senior Citizens.

More Power to Munting Nayon and to the future contributors of your suggested Retiree's Column.

ROBERTO "OBET" DIONISIO
