All participating teams at the 28th FBA Friday morning league with FBA President Edgar Mendoza, commissioner Abel Chavenia and guest Mohammed Bayoumi at the center.The colorful parade of nine teams started at around 6:00am followed by a simple program led by Mendoza and FBA commissioner Abel Chavenia. A friend of Filipino basketball enthusiasts Mohammed Bayoumi a Presidential Banaag awardee was also present as special guest who also led the ceremonial toss to officially start the game.
The Carlo Gavazzi team of coach Rolly Dizon and team manager Samuel Macas with FBA President Edgar Mendoza and Commissioner Abel Chavenia.We are really overwhelmed, in fact, we are expecting only 6 to 7 teams to join in this Friday morning league but we were surprised that we have presently 9 teams finally confirmed their participation and 3 more teams as of now are showing their interest to join, Abel Chavenia said. In this scenario, we are going to have two divisions for this Friday morning basketball league to make the games more exciting, he added.
The Selection team of head coach Arnel Penos and asst. coach Bong Carillo with with FBA President Edgar Mendoza and Commissioner Abel Chavenia.The participating teams who joined the parade were Bato team of head coach and manager Zaldy Buenaventura and assistant coach Marlon Nevado, Bud Brothers of manager Danny Gulapa, Carlo Gavazzi of head coach Rolly Dizon and team manager Sammy Macas, D’ Angels of coach Angel Garcia and manager Jhona Garcia, Dallal team of head coach Raffy David, assisted by Nestor Norte and of team manager Glen Sibag, The Managers of head coach Arnold Perez and assistant coach Boy Manila and team manager Jameel del Rosario, Rabya team of coach Joey Martinez, manager Ruel Macdon, Selections of coach Arnel Penos and asst.coach Bong Carillo and the Wasalak of team manager Ruben Villarosa, head coach Ric Belarmino and assistant coaches Noy Soliveres and Eric Mabarit.

The FBA Morning League Team Participants during Oath of SponsorshipEarly winners at the opening were Carlo Gavazzi 92 beat Wasalak 87 in a dingdong battle in the first game. Highest scorers for Carlo Gavazzi were Leo Quiambao 35, Aldwin Hernandez 20, Arnel Intig 14 and Restnel Eleuterio 13 and for Wasalak top scorer was Joseph Bautista with 39 points. In the second game, the Selections team won over the Managers 84-66 with Romeo Smash as the highest pointers with 23 points for the Selection team and 16 points for John Fellias of the Managers.
The Friday Morning division is part of the 28th season of the FBA basketball tournament. The schedule of games is being held every Friday from 5:30am till 8:30am.

When we relate to other people, it is but natural to adapt different versions of yourself. One cannot openly say “ P*tang Ina” in front of one’s mother, or it would be quite unnatural to greet a peer by making “mano po”. With the collection of letters that Rizal exchanged, different aspects of his personality come out. Rizal kept all the letters that he received because “through them he wanted to study the character, temperament, transformation, and intellectual tendencies of his friends and countrymen” (Viola 324). So we do the same now to him.
In a letter, addressed to Trinidad Rizal, Rizal fits into the role of “Kuya”. He tells of his adventures in Germany and his impression of German women who are not afraid of men and are more concerned with substance than with appearances. So like any kuya, he encourages Trining to form the habit of studying, so as to adorn herself with substance. He ends the letter asking her to write him back in Spanish....

THE TALANGKAMost Filipinos are familiar with the derogatory term " talangka mentality ", meaning taking the short cut route of climbing to the top at the expense of others just like the perceived obnoxious habit of the talangka clambering over other talangka to reach to the top. Only a few people realize that the small crabs do not intentionally step on the other talangka. It is due to their instinct of trying to stay alive, or because of the urge of self preservation , that they try to escape among the hordes of other talangka whether in a bucket or on a river bank....

Update Issue - February, 2008NAGBABAGONG KLIMA SA PILIPINAS, nitong nakaraang dalawang buwan nagsisidaing ang mga naninirahan sa Baguio dahil sa tindi ng ginaw, 8-sentigrado. Di pa umano sila nakadanas ng pangangatog sa ginaw. Dahil hindi naman nangyayari ito, walang central heating ang mga bahay. Suot daw nila ay patong-patong at nakabalabal ng makapal.
