As a little girl Mary Amora, born in the Philippines, knew that she wanted to be a singer. She was barely 8 years old when she won her first talent show. After singing in several school bands she decided to find her luck in Manila. She started to sing in a band and developed a lot of experience in the club- and hotel-scene, not only in Manila but also abroad (Japan, Netherlands and China).

In 1999, she started singing with her new band in Shanghai, China. It was there were she first met her husband. He told her about the soundmixshow in the Netherlands and that she might make a good chance. They married in September 1999 and after a few months waiting for her MVV, Mary Amora moved to the Netherlands early 2000 and tried to start her career as a singer in her new home country.

First thing to take care of was to record a demo CD so everybody would be able to hear her talent. Once recorded, the CD was sent to the production of the Soundmixshow in March 2000. Since we didn't hear anything, we thought that we did something wrong, but late December Mary received an invitation for the auditions. After the first audition and the final TV selections, which took place in Utrecht, Mary received the invitation for the TV show. In this first show, she garnered the first runner up, winning a place in the semi final a few weeks later. During the semi final Mary barely makes it into the finals by reaching a 5th place together with the Ojays. This is why not 10 acts but 11 start the big final on April 21 2001.

Thanks to a great performance and a lot of support of the Filipino community and watched by millions of TV viewers, Mary won the finals of the "Henny Huisman Soundmixshow" with her imitation of Tina Turner's River Deep, Mountain High.

Later that year she performs for a full Philips Stadium during PSV Eindhoven's championship match singing live The best.

March 1 2003 Mary Amora participated in the finals of the Dutch Eurosong Contest. With the song Somewhere by the river, written by Ernst van de Kerkhof, she tried to qualify for the European final in Riga. In 2004 she tried again with the song The power of an angel.

Both songs appear on Mary's début album, "Long Way". Next to these two songs, 12 other original compositions are placed on the album. It was Mary's biggest project so far, and she can be proud of the result of a few years of hard work.

Next to her regular performances of Mary's Tina Turner Tribute show, Mary works hard promoting her first album. Furthermore she is requested to develop a Donna Summer Tribute show. Starting in October, this performance will be part of a 70ties and 80ties revival show, where her Tina Turner Tribute can be seen as well.
