Daawah Sports 1st Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament a success

New Senaya, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Daawah Sports 2012 G 1433H in cooperation with the New Industrial Area Islamic Center was triumphant in conducting the 1st Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament where the final match ending the first season concluded on July 14, 2012 held at the new Daawah Sports Covered Court.

After months of competition, from 32 competing teams down to four, at last, the much-awaited finals were witnessed by an a amazing crowd of more or less 800 basketball enthusiasts. Battling in the 2nd and 3rd Runners up was Al Manhal Nestle against System House Electrical Panel (SEP) where SEP won in a close fight of 78-74. Hence, the championship bout was played between Al Shahin and Al Fanar. The fans, who almost brought the roof down, lauded cheers to their respective teams but in the end, it was Al Shahin who remained victorious ending the game with a score of 92-79.

Mythical Five Awardees are Nathaniel Salazar, Al Fanar (Best Forward), Anthony Gozon, Al Shahin (Best Forward and Most Valuable Player), Seigfred Estampa, Al Fanar (Best Guard), Cezar Villar, SEP (Best Guard and Rookie of the Year), Oscar Reyes, SEP (Best Center) while the Best Coach and Best Manager went to Mr. Roy Salvatiera (Al Shahin) and Engr. Nixon Baruga (Al Shahin), respectively. Other winners include: Al Abdullatif (Best in Uniform), Rassas (Best in Sportmanlike Team), Chukie Tolentino, SEP (Best Sportmanlike Player), Raymond Azaola, Al Rabie (Best in 3-Point Shot) and Oscar Reyes, Al Shahin (Highest Individual Score).
In addition, one of the highlights of the night was the Raffle Draw administered by the New Industrial Area Islamic Center through Shiek Khaled Al Sane by giving away five units of Bicycles.
The tournament was made possible through the hard works of the Organizing Officers headed by Sheik Mohammed Bin Habib Al Kholaqi (Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors), Shiek Khaled Al Sane (Public Relations Manager), Othman Lunasco (Sports Coordinator), Ali Janaban (Chairman), Yusuf Valenzuela (Vice Chairman), Jameel Concepcion (Head Technical Committee/Vice Chairman), Amjad Alfonso (Asst. Technical Committee/Vice Chairman), Wajid Gudmalin (General Secretary), Timers, Scorers, Statisticians, Sportcaster, Marshalls, Cook, Utility and Driver.
The Daawah Sports was formed in 2004 with Shiek Mohammed Bin Habib Al Kholaqi as the Founding Chairman. Aimed at disseminating the message of Islam, the group of Filipino Muslims incorporated Basketball Tournament as one way of educating and spreading the good news of Islam aside from lessening the homesickness of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Seinayah Community.
