NALDO-ALCAZAR CLANS PLAN A GRAND REUNION BY 2013

A grand reunion for the Naldo and Alcazar families is now being prepared by a group belonging to the said families headed by its coordinator, Mrs. Aurora Naldo Ethler who said it is about time that members of both families should know one another.

Some of the members of the clan are now settled in several provinces in Luzon, Bisayas, Mindanao, North America, and other parts of the world.
 
According to Ms. Ehler, she is coordinating the preparation of this grand reunion as a one readying this event too short because of the distances of the places where her relatives in both the Naldo and Alcazar branches of the families.
 
In the meantime, she is calling all her relatives throughout the world to communicate with her either through the facebood, email (auroraehler@hotmail.com), telephones (1-905-470-1896 (home), and 1-647-234-1896, or by writing her  at her postal address: # 46 Landmark Centre, Markham, Ontario, Canada, L3R 9N6.
 
Ms. Ethler said that all the relatives on both the Naldo and Alcazar sides are now excited to know their relatives who have no communications for a long, long time. (St. Jamestown News Service)

It was Yuletide season, a good time for another family reunion in the Philippines.  We celebrated Christmas Eve at my brother Danny and his wife Cindy’s house.  Cindy’s sisters Annie and Bettina hosted Christmas lunch.  Our holiday meals were both delightful and generous.  It was time for some physical vacation activities.  Our destination – Coron in the province of Palawan. 

Coron is remote.  We took three modes of transportation to get there - by air, land and sea.  Our big family tour group flew from Manila to Busuanga Island just north of the island of Palawan, then rode two vans through hills and dirt roads, before taking two motor boats to reach our secluded vacation hideaway by the beach.  The skillful boatmen waded and pushed the two small crafts as we passed through shallow waters between mangroves.

Experienced painters are often confronted with the problem of what to do with their early works whose originally unnoticed flaws have become more obvious with the passage of time.

Some professionals suggest the slash-and-burn option which consists in carrying out literally what the words mean. One should get rid of anything that could blot one's otherwise brilliant portfolio. Some artists already held in high esteem find this a sensible solution to avoid damage to their reputation or a plunge in their market-value. But, in this age when the dividing line between mediocrity and excellence in art appears to be non-existent, this suggestion seems extreme.

The majority, of course, recommend keeping them as is. One should not be ashamed of one's humble beginnings. If anything, early works are testaments to the artist's hard-fought struggles to achieve perfection or fitting preludes to a story with a happy ending. This is fine as long as one is willing to be reminded constantly of one's previous mistakes.
