APCO launches SAGIP-KABAYAN APPEAL

The Alliance of Philippine Community Organisations Inc. through its President, Mr. Jhun Salazar, and founding President, Dr. Cen Amores have launched a fund raising campaign to respond to the immediate needs of our kababayans who were ravaged by the recent floods in the Philippines, and now face the daunting challenges of rebuilding their lives.

Guests at the Community Thank You Program to celebrate the successes of Kapit-bahayan Cooperative Ltd. including winning the highly prestigious Global Bayaning Pilipino Award (Filipino Heroes) conferred by ABS-CBN and UGAT Foundation in Manila. A total of AU $301.45 was collected in the initial launch of APCO’s relief project called SAGIP-KABAYAN which was held during the celebratory lunch and program for the recent success of Kapit-bahayan Co-operative Ltd.

Kapit-bahayan Co-operative Ltd. was conferred the highly prestigious Global Bayaning Pilipino Award for Australia by ABS-CBN. This follows other performance-based citations and recognitions conferred recently by various government agencies and mainstream organisations to the cooperative, to Dr. Cen Amores, Chair of Membership Development and to Mr. Ruben Amores, founding President of Kapit-bahayan.

With a fervent appeal to its affiliates and the community to open their hearts and dig deep, Salazar is optimistic that more funds will come in as APCO plans to boost this donation campaign in several upcoming events. The next appeal will be at the Foundation Anniversary of the Visayan Association of Australia Inc, an APCO affiliate. This will be held at All Saints Parish Hall, Liverpool on the 25
th August 2012 from 5:30pm.

In the past three years of its existence, APCO has witnessed the coming together of its affiliates to help those in dire need. APCO’s SAGIP-KABAYAN APPEAL will once again prove that generous gift giving is a hallmark of this organization.
