Women’s beauty crowns women’s rights celebration on March 8 Women’s Day with Special guest, Madame Brigitte Ayrault

In advance of International Women’s Day, the Philippine Embassy in Paris organized its special celebration on March 7, 2013 In UNESCO, a fashion defile of special vegetal fiber based cloths designed by Dita Sandico-Ong. HE Ambassador Christina Ortega invited as guest of honor, Mme Brigitte Ayrault, wife of Prime Minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault.

In welcoming the guests, Ambassador Ortega referred to our two lady presidents, Cory Aquino and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo,  and the long tradition of women’s rights and universal suffrage.

The Star of the Kings

A hero proclaimed -A mother’s wish fulfilled

Last December 30, 2012 the nation celebrated the re-enactment of the transfer of the urn containing the mortal remains of the national hero, Jose Rizal, from his mother’s home in Binondo to the base of his monument  at the Luneta Park, known in 19th century as Bagumbayan.
 
What actually happened then?
 
What was the impact of this ceremony, then in 1912 and today in 2012, a hundred years later?...
