The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is happy to congratulate Stichting Bayanihan as a recipient of the Banaag Award of the 2012 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas. Secretary Imelda M. Nicolas, Chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas informed Bayanihan about this wonderful news. Stichting Bayanihan, Centrum voor Filippijnse Vrouwen in Nederland  ( BayanihanFoundation, Philippine Women Centre in the Netherlands)  is a self-help women organisation which aims to advance the particpation, integration and emancipation of Philippine women through empowerment in the Netherlands). Bayanihan has been doing this work for 21 years.

  Bayanihan Celebrates 20 years of Community Service

Rotterdam-October 15, 2011: It is still some hours to midnight when Rose Slotema-Haboc, Stichting Bayanihan’s treasurer, takes off her dancing shoes to give her tired feet a rest.

“We have been here since two o’clock,” she says. “My feet hurt, but I can say that the evening is a success.”

Tonight’s organizers have transformed Sportcentrum West in Rotterdam into a festive hall. Dutch and Filipino supporters have come from as far as Belgium and Gelderland to celebrate...

March 13, 2010, Utrecht, The Netherlands—More than forty people attended Stichting(Foundation) Bayanihan’s celebration of International Women’s Day which was held in Stichting Boeg, Utrecht. This year, Bayanihan’s theme was Prevent Domestic Violence, Break the Silence, Be Empowered. It was also the culmination of Bayanihan’s project in Utrecht concerning domestic violence. Invited guests were Third Secretary & Vice-Consul Cynthia Pelayo, Duska Sablijc Sarovic-Prevention Worker, Advies Steunpunt Huiselijk Geweld Utrecht and Melanie Bayon, medewerkster publiekszaken ,Gemeente Nijkerk.
